Scheduled - JW8 contains features for the web as it exists today. Browsers have changed significantly in what they support over the last two years. JW6 has not been updated since February of 2015. Any viewers still seeing JW6 are likely not getting the most optimal experience. You will notice a performance increase as well an easier to use, easier to customize, and better looking video player when updating to JW8. You can see all of the latest player developments by looking at our release notes. (https://developer.jwplayer.com/release-notes/jw-player/)
The support window for JW6 also came to a close on 2017-02-01 (18 months after the release of JW7). To ensure forward support of all cloud hosted players we will be automatically upgrading all remaining JW6 cloud hosted players to the latest version of JW Player. If you would like to trigger the update of your cloud hosted players earlier, you can swap the library JavaScript file using JW6 with a cloud hosted libraries using a JW8 player from the Manage Players section of the dashboard. All library files will be updated to JW8 on 2017-11-07.
